How it works

A rehearsal space that lives around your barn work.

RoundPenVR assumes your client is enrolled in a physical equine program. Every VR session sits between live sessions — preparing for them and integrating what came out of them — with a coach directing the whole time.

The blended model

VR wraps around the live session

Each session is tagged by where it sits in the client's journey. The live barn work stays central; VR does the repeatable rehearsal and integration.

Prep

Pre-barn

VR, coach present. Ground and prepare before a live session.

Live

At the barn

The real session with a real horse, logged by the coach. No VR.

Integration

Post-session

VR, coach present. Restage and work through moments that surfaced.

Rehearsal

Homework

VR with a remote coach co-present. Practice a specific contact again.

The core mechanic

Freeze, talk, unfreeze, try again

A living horse can't hold still while you process what just happened. In RoundPenVR the coach can — freezing the archetype mid-moment, opening an awareness dialogue, then releasing it so the client can meet the moment differently.

  • The archetype holds its pose; gentle breathing continues
  • The coach's question appears as a floating sign in-headset
  • On the client's readiness, the coach unfreezes
  • The behavior delta is captured for the debrief

The five session modules

A coach composes the sequence for each client. Arrival and the mandatory close bookend the work; the coach chooses what happens in between.

Arrival & Grounding

Present-moment awareness and a session check-in. The archetype's breathing drives the light and sound of the pen; slow, rhythmic breath calms the whole scene.

Contact-Boundary Rehearsal Core

Practice approach, waiting, and retreat. The archetype responds to how the client moves and sounds — permitting closeness when grounded, stepping back when agitated. This is where the freeze-retry loop lives.

Open Moments

Restage a specific moment from a prior live session — "the moment at the rail" — and let the client's changed contact play out. The coach can reset the scene as many times as needed.

Projection Work

The client externalizes a named feeling onto the archetype, which shifts its posture and presence in response. The archetype only ever responds physically — it never speaks. Excluded from calm profiles by default; the coach can exit instantly.

Departure & Journal Mandatory

The archetype walks away unhurried; the client records a short voice journal (with consent). This close can never be skipped or shortened — no session ever ends abruptly.

A session, start to finish

What a session looks like

Setup (~10 min)

The coach selects the client, confirms consent is current, chooses the phase and module sequence, assigns an archetype persona, sets the intensity, and generates a session code for the headset.

Facilitation

The client joins and confirms consent in-headset. The coach runs the modules, places markers, freezes and unfreezes, and adjusts intensity within the client's ceiling.

Debrief & close

Module E runs, the coach records a spoken debrief, assigns any follow-up, and signs an attestation. A session that isn't attested within 24 hours is flagged for the program admin.
